Lord Robert Cecil meets the people
The Times reports that, while electioneering, Lord Robert Cecil, the Unionist candidate for Wisbeach in the December 1910 general election, had been struck on the side by a large piece of brick. Cecil said that he hoped the assailants would vote for the Liberal as he would rather not be elected to represent the sort of men who would engage in such un-English behaviour. Later that day he got his wish as Neil Primrose the sitting Liberal MP more than doubled his majority.
